As I first stated on our newscast last week — and have mentioned just a few times today — I’m sorry to report that Local Edition will be signing off the air after today; our 5:24pm airing will be the last.
Our sign-off comes primarily from a lack of funding caused by the state of the economy; that caused us, like many businesses these days, to evaluate our operation, leading to the decision to shut down.
I personally been involved in this operation from the start, and it’s been a great and enjoyable journey serving the community over the past two years. I’ve covered countless interesting stories and met a lot of wonderful people, and I’d like to thank you all for your positive feedback and support of our newscast.
As I wrap up this final Local Edition, I leave with a bit of advice from my own experience — and that’s to follow your dreams, and never hesitate to do so — even if your dreams might seem impossible. Two and a half years ago, I would never have imagined that I could start a program like “Local Edition” and keep it running as long as I did. In better times, I think that our newscasts would be able to run even longer. And even though we might be ending our program, I fully believe that when one door closes, two more will open — and I look forward to the opportunities the future holds. I encourage you all to remember this advice, and never give up on your dreams… even if things seem tough.
As this final Local Edition comes to a close, I leave you with the famous words of Edward R. Murrow… Good Night, and Good Luck.

“You stay classy, Cadillac.”
Eric – You are an inspiration for all young adults to follow their dreams and passions. Great support of our local community. I know you will do well in anything you desire. Hope to see you on the other end of the camera lense in the future.
Eric, you amazed me the first time I met you, and each time after. You are a young man who had more than a dream…you had a plan and a willingness to work to see it through.
It will be a pleasure to watch for you in the future and applaud your next venture.
Stay as cheerful and optimistic as you have been…you have so much to offer our world, and we desperately need young adults like you!
Robin
I’ve taken the time to read some of your accomplishments, and I must say that it was truly inspiring. Just so happen that today I was looking for HD video editing equipment and I came across with your web-site, I loved your approach upon signing-off the air. It seems to me as if your were getting out of one of those very expensive cars after a succesful and fun test drive. I’ve started my owm dream, always wanted to have a web-site and do some freelance photography, although I am very small right now, I do hope to grow one day and partially achieved what you have done so far, wish the best of lucks and I know you’ll get back on the air, good luck.
