Snowmobile Safety Class

Snowmobile Safety Class

Seven people have died in snowmobile accidents statewide in just the past couple weeks, highlighting the importance of safety and caution while driving. The Wexford County Sheriff’s Office is hoping to make a winter sport safer with an upcoming class.

The organization will hold a snowmobile safety class on Saturday, January 23, from 9am until 3pm. The class will take place at the Wexford County Sheriff’s Office at 820 S. Carmel St. in Cadillac. At the end of the class, a test will be issued; all participants passing the test will receive a snowmobile safety certificate.

Anyone between the ages of 12 and 17 is required to obtain a snowmobile safety certificate before operating a snowmobile in the state of Michigan.

There is no charge for the upcoming class, but pre-registration is required. If you’d like to register for the class, call 231-779-9206. Class space is limited, so if you’re interested in participating, you’re encouraged to call early.
